Staff Human Resources (SHR)

Project Description

SHR has formed a unit called HR Service Teams, Compensation and Policy to perform the human resource services formerly done by Service Center staff (e.g. payroll, timesheets, recruitments, performance management, leaves of absence, reclassifications, student employment, etc.). Each division is assigned to a particular service team, for the most part interacting with the same Service Center personnel as before the consolidation. (An organization chart showing the service teams and the divisions they serve is available at the Human Resources Transformation web page.) This reorganization is being phased in by division.

Project Timeline

As of November 3, 2005, all HR Service Teams have co-located to 2901 Missions Street Extension and the University Business Park,  and are operational.  The teams, and the divisions and/or units they serve, are listed below:

• BAS/ITS – Team A
• Student Affairs – Team B
• Colleges & University Housing Services – Team C
• Physical & Biological Sciences, School of Engineering, and Chancellor and Campus Provost/EVC units (former CBO units) – Team D
• Arts, Humanities, Library, Social Sciences, Summer Session, and University Extension – Team E

A contact matrix has been developed for each Service Team.  These matrices show who to contact for various HR services, and are available as one-page PDF documents at the Staff Human Resources web site (http://shr.ucsc.edu/topics/employee-labor-relations/hr-service-teams/contacts.htm).
