Transformation Governance

Although governance processes can be complicated and confusing, increased understanding and clarification of how governance works can have a direct and positive impact on our ability to meet campus objectives. The role of governance is to formalize consultation to ensure that the correct people systematically make and contribute to decisions. Governance groups are advisory to management. It is the responsibility of management to listen to and consider the guidance of these committees and then make decisions.

Transformation governance committees can be described in three levels: Central, Division Management and Customer/Stakeholder.

The general roles and responsibilities of each level are described below:

Committees at the Central level provide integrated perspectives for strategic choices and new initiatives/campus directions; and manage trade-offs for escalated issues.

Committees at the Divisional level review strategy, service levels & policy recommended from customer/stakeholder subcommittees; look at trade-offs in resource commitments; resolve escalated issues; document & communicate progress towards goals; refer items to campus executive level as appropriate; and communicate with campus community.

Committees at the Customer/Stakeholder level provide oversight and recommendations for policy, service, resource and process issues; analyze issues, assess project proposals; review compliance and accountability reports; escalate issues; and receive and initiate regular communications with executive committee/sponsor.
