Undergraduate students who attend a research university have a valuable opportunity to incorporate research and creative activities into their classroom studies. UC Santa Cruz offers undergraduates many ways to engage in these activities, either by participating in the ongoing research and creative projects of the faculty or by developing their own projects under faculty supervision. Internship programs offer similar ways of 'learning by doing' that enrich your educational experience.
Follow the links, at right, to learn more about the opportunities within each of the academic areas. To pursue an opportunity, contact the faculty in the program that interests you to learn more about how to prepare for this experience.
Professor of ecology and evolutionary biology Laurel Fox leads her community ecology class on a field trip through a natural reserve on a former army base. UCSC's location on the Central Coast of California provides the campus with an "outdoor classroom" that is one of the most biologically diverse in the state.
