Grants
New NIH Forms

The new PHS 398 application and PHS 2590 progress report instructions and forms are available on the NIH Grants Web site and may now be used by applicants. As of January 10, 2002, use of the revised forms is required. The forms available on the NIH website are now modifiable using Adobe Acrobat Reader Software. Applicants are encouraged to access the instructions and forms via the Internet because they contain valuable links to policy documents as well as links for navigating the instructions easily. For further information, contact GrantsInfo@NIH.GOV See NIH Guide Notice of July 10, 2001 for more details or contact heffernj@od.nih.gov

Community of Science COS

Are you using the Community of Science (COS)?

Over 400 UCSC researchers are keeping up-to-date with the latest funding opportunities thanks to COs, a Web-based publisher of services that support and advance scholarly research in all disciplines. COS links researchers with collaborating colleagues and funding opportunities worldwide via the World Wide Web. Among the resources available through COs is the searchable COs Funding Opportunities Database. COs maintains the largest funding opportunities database on the Web.

For more information or to arrange for a COS Orientation at your office, please contact William Clark at OSP (459-5278 or wfclark@cats.ucsc.edu).

OSP announces eDataSheet:

OSP's Online DataSheet Alternative!

OSP is pleased to announce the release of eDataSheet to the UCSC research community. eDataSheet is OSP's online Web-based alternative for initiating the Data Sheet process. It is designed to provide greater convenience and efficiency for Principal Investigators in completing the Data Sheet process which is required prior to proposal submission.

The eDataSheet Website project marks the beginning of OSP's plans for an expanding arena of OSP alternative services and processes offered via the Web. The OSP Website will continue to evolve and eventually offer even greater convenience and efficiency for you, the PI.

We encourage PI's to try this new DataSheet option. We are anxious to hear what you, the end-user, have to say about the eDataSheet Website and how it works for you. We also welcome any comments or suggestions you may have to improve our website. Please send comments to wfclark@cats.ucsc.edu.
