Campus traffic being redirected to help students move in

By Louise Donahue (831) 459-2495; ldonahue@ucsc.edu

Campus traffic patterns will be altered and there will be some changes in athletic event parking on Friday and Saturday to accommodate students’ fall quarter move-in.

Those not moving into campus housing are being urged to utilize commuting alternatives on Friday and avoid the campus during the weekend, if possible.

Hagar Drive will be closed to downhill traffic at McLaughlin Drive on Friday, September 21, and Saturday, September 22, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Vehicles will be directed down Coolidge Drive and may return to the Bay Tree Bookstore and East Remote by turning right up Hagar. A campus police officer will be stationed at the intersection of Hagar and McLaughlin to allow access for emergency vehicles, Metro buses and TAPS shuttles.

In addition, the service road between Porter College and Kresge College will be restricted to one-way traffic on Friday from 8 a.m to 6 p.m. Traffic flow will go from Porter to Kresge, but no entrance will be available from the Kresge side near the North Remote Parking Lot. On Saturday, from 8 a.m to 6 p.m., traffic will flow from Kresge to Porter, but there will be no entrance at the Porter road at Heller Drive.

Traffic patterns will return to normal for Sunday’s move-in.

All remote lots and Performing Arts lot 126 will be reserved for move-in on Friday and Saturday. The Barn Theater lot will not be available on Friday. Specific college lots will be reserved for move-In, with signs reserving posted no later then Wednesday, September 26.(See campus move-in schedule below.)

Those attending OPERS events scheduled Friday through Sunday will be directed to park at the Hahn Student Services lot 101. Teams and officials will be directed to park at the East Field House outdoor basketball court.
