The UCSC Arboretum will present a performance of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest--performed by Shakespeare To Go-- at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, at the Arboretum’s outdoor McHenry Amphitheater.

Shakespeare To Go is the educational outreach program created by Shakespeare Santa Cruz in collaboration with the UCSC Theater Arts Department. Each year, theater arts students develop and perform a 50-minute version of a Shakespeare play that will be performed by Shakespeare Santa Cruz’s professional company during the summer festival.

This year’s student version of The Tempest will be directed by theater arts lecturer and popular Shakespearean actor, Mike Ryan. The actors are currently touring schools this spring in Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Santa Clara Counties, and the Arboretum show is one of only a few performances open to the general public.

Tickets are $7 general; $5 for students with ID and/ or under 18 years of age, and are available at the door. Beverages will be available for purchase. For more information, contact the Arboretum at (831) 427-2998 or arboretum@ucsc.edu.
