Re: Second Harvest Food Bank holiday food drive
Please be on the lookout for a grocery bag that will be delivered in late November
to all UCSC faculty and staff. Roger Anderson, Academic Senate Chair, and Clare Greene,
Staff Advisory Chair, will be asking you to help with the UCSC SECOND HARVEST HOLIDAY
FOOD DRIVE--FILL THE BAG TO FILL THE BUS. You can donate food or cash to help provide
food and basic necessities to people in need in Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties.
Between December 6 and 10, UCSC Mail Services will pick up and store filled grocery
bags from each unit. On December 10, a special bus will then deliver the food to
Second Harvest Food Bank, where it will be distributed to needy families in Santa
Cruz County.
If you prefer to donate cash, rather than fill the bag with groceries, you can write
a check payable to Second Harvest Food Bank, with a note on the check stating "UCSC
Food Drive," and send it via campus mail to UCSC Food Drive. For every dollar
donated, Second Harvest distributes more than $10 worth of food.
If you have questions, contact UCSC Second Harvest Holiday Food Drive Co- Chairs:
Sheila K. Gottehrer (9-4606)
Ronaldo Ramirez (9-5366).
