Re: Meeting to discuss What is the Future of MELVYL?
- Tuesday, January 25
- McHenry Library, Room 325
- 8:30-9:30 a.m.
The staff at the California Digital Library (CDL), in conjunction with representatives
from each of the UC campuses, is engaged in the process of evaluating a "Request
for Proposal" for a replacement system for the MELVYL on-line catalog. It is
intended that this request will be presented to vendors sometime this spring and
offered for bid.
You may well have received notice requesting your participation in a survey to identify
those features that should be retained from MELVYL as it currently exists, as well
as identifying new features to insure flexibility, responsiveness and speed in a
new system. (Links to the survey are located on the Library's
homepage.)
The chair of the CDL committee, Laine Farley, will be visiting Santa Cruz on January
25th and would like to meet with interested faculty (and staff) to solicit feedback
on this process.
I hope you'll join committee members for coffee and muffins at the meeting with
Ms. Farley.
