Hagar Drive--Road closure and delays during March 20 to 24
During the week of March 20 to 24, the one-way portion of Hagar Drive by the Bay
Tree Bookstore between Steinhart Way and McLaughlin Drive will be closed to traffic
for all or part of the days. If there is not a road closure on a particular day,
expect traffic delays.
Check for informational signs prior to reaching Hagar Drive. A turn-around area will
also be available at the bookstore shuttle stop.
Campus members will still be able to access all services, including the Bay Tree
Bookstore, Hahn Student Services, and the Whole Earth Restaurant, except for Friday,
March 24, when there is an administrative holiday.
Transit Service and Pedestrian Walkways Changes during Hagar Drive Closure
When the one-lane portion of Hagar Drive is closed, Metro buses and campus shuttles
will be rerouted. Revised bus route information will be mounted at all transit stops
on Monday morning.
The Metro bus and campus perimeter shuttle services going up to campus will stay
on Coolidge Drive instead of turning left onto Hagar Drive. The buses and shuttles
will stop at the Physical Plant bus stop, continue up Coolidge Drive, stop at the
Crown/Merrill bus stop, and then continue their normal routes.
In order to increase coverage when the short section of Hagar Drive is closed, the
core shuttle service will be extended to include a stop at the Cowell College circle.
Pedestrians will be rerouted through Cowell College. Signs will guide pedestrians
through the area.
The road closure is required by the contractor of the Bay Tree Bookstore and Graduate
Student Commons project so that work can occur on underground utilities.
For further information on transit services, call Transportation & Parking Services
at 459-3228.

Heller Drive--Lane closure and delays on March 21
On Tuesday, March 21, the northbound lane of Heller Drive, just south of McLaughlin
Drive, will be closed. Flag persons will direct traffic two-way traffic.
Also, expect traffic delays in the area as concrete trucks will be making deliveries
to the Core West Parking Structure.
The lane closure is required by the contractor of the Core West Parking Structure
so that concrete can be poured.

In order to inform members of the UCSC community of the impacts of construction on
campus, Currents is now posting updates on any construction projects that affect
transportation and parking. This update also includes information on the Mission
Street widening project and contains links to construction, parking, and transportation
Web sites.
This column is updated regularly on Currents' Web site (http://www.ucsc.edu/currents/construction.html).
It also appears in each newsprint edition of Currents.
In addition, an e-mail tree will be sent to the campus community when there is a
substantial impact to transportation and parking from a construction project.
