March 8, 2000 To: The Campus Community From: Francisco Hernandez, Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs Re: College administrative officer (CAO) appointed for Colleges Nine and Ten Dear Campus Colleagues. I am pleased to announce that Deana Slater has accepted the appointment of College Administrative Officer (CAO) for Colleges Nine and Ten. Deana's professional background at UC San Diego and as the CAO of Merrill College is ideally suited to this challenging, new position. Deana will be working closely with the Division of Social Sciences as she oversees the planning and development of new housing and dining facilities, and the creation of student and residential life programs complementary to the unique academic themes proposed for each college. Deana officially began her new role effective March 1, 2000. A national search for the Merrill College CAO position has just commenced. Associate Vice Chancellor Gail Heit will be chairing the search committee. Until the search process is completed, Alex Reveles (Assistant Director, Housing, Dining & Child Care Services) has agreed to serve as the Interim CAO at Merrill College beginning March 15th. You may recall that Alex also served as the Interim CAO for Stevenson College last fall quarter. Please join me in welcoming Deana and Alex to their new roles. Francisco J.
