Febuary 9, 2000 To: The Campus Community Re: Personnel changes in the Accounting Office I am writing to inform you of some staffing changes that will be taking place in the Accounting Office as a result of some planned reorganization within Financial Affairs. Effective March 1, 2000, Bob Rodriguez will be joining the Campus Controller's Office as Director of Special Projects. Bob will be assisting Assistant Controller Vicki Gutzwiller and me in accelerating the implementation of the campus financial management program. Bob's accounting expertise and knowledge of the campus financial environment will be extremely valuable in helping us succeed in this ambitious effort. For the next few months, I will be assuming Bob's role as Accounting Director on an interim basis. I do not expect the reorganization to affect the work of your unit. Our goal is to make the transition as transparent to you as possible. For your information, we are in the process of recruiting for a replacement for General Accounting Supervisor Jim Kendrick, who retired last year due to a disability. This will be a difficult task as Jim was extremely knowledgeable about campus accounting matters and contributed much to the campus community over his 19 years of service. We hope to have this position filled before fiscal closing activities begin in earnest later this year. I and everyone in Financial Affairs look forward to receiving your continued support over the next few months and beyond, and both Bob and I look forward to working with you in our new, albeit temporary for me, capacities.
