Re: Founding faculty member Bert Kaplan has died

We are saddened by the news of the death this morning of Bert Kaplan, professor emeritus of psychology. A member of UCSC's founding faculty, Kaplan conducted pioneering research in the cross-cultural study of personality. Although he retired in 1989, Kaplan was an avid swimmer, tennis player, and fencer who continued to frequent the campus's recreational facilities on a regular basis.

Please join us in remembering his many contributions to this campus and in extending deep sympathy to his family and many friends.
