Re: New On-line Recruitment Management System

Staff Human Resources is pleased to announce the implementation of a new on-line Recruitment Management System (RMS). This integrated recruitment system will facilitate and automate many of the labor-intensive, paper-driven aspects of the staff recruitment and hiring process. RMS offers a number of advantages to both hiring managers and job seekers including:

Hiring Managers:
* Ability to initiate a recruitment action on-line and route for review and approval electronically.
* Access to electronic applications within one business day after the initial review date (IRD). Recruitment status and applicant materials will be available on-line 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
* Review applicant materials on-line, and record recruitment details and applicant statuses electronically.
* Ability to create and store classified job descriptions in the system for future recruiting purposes.

Job Seekers:
* Increased search capabilities, allowing individuals to focus on job opportunities that most closely match their background and skills.
* Access to full job descriptions on-line.
* Ability to create and save an on-line employment application, and store multiple versions of their resume in the system.
* Ability to check the status of all their applications from the Internet.

RMS is expected to improve communication with applicants, reduce the overall time-to-hire, and improve reporting and analysis of recruitment activity, allowing Staff Human Resources to provide more strategic proactive services to the campus.

Key dates associated with the transition:
* Beginning August 29th, Staff Human Resources will work with hiring managers and their Service Centers to begin pre-loading recruitments into the new system.
* Applicants can apply on-line using the old system through September 1st.
* The new system "goes live" on September 6th.

Additional information regarding RMS implementation and training is forthcoming. Campus units needing to hire staff between now and September are encouraged to consult with their Service Center or the SHR Employment Office (x9-2009) before initiating a recruitment.

For more information visit the RMS web site (http://bas.ucsc.edu/btp/rms.html), or contact Lori Castro, SHR Employment Manager, at x9-2960 or lhcastro@ucsc.edu.
