Re: Draft Guidelines: Staffing the Transformed Organizations

As announced by Chancellor Chemers at the Staff Forum earlier today, I am writing to inform you of the availability of the working draft document entitled, "Guidelines: Staffing the Transformed Organizations."

Staffing the new organizations is one of the greatest challenges facing the transformation program leaders. The guidelines were created to provide a high-level framework that pulls together pertinent information to help guide the leadership of the Business Transformation (BTP) and Information Technology Transformation (ITTP) Programs in their planning for the movement of staff.

One of the principles promoted in the guidelines is to encourage ongoing communication with impacted staff during the reorganizations, including articulating the processes that will be implemented to facilitate staff movement. To this end, you will find the guidelines at www2.ucsc.edu/staff_hr/EBCStaffing101904.pdf.

To date, the document has been reviewed by the BTP Steering Committee, the IT Vice Provost Advisory Group, and the Transformation Executive Committee and subsequently revised accordingly. After staff have commented, the draft will be submitted to the Executive Budget Committee (EBC) for final approval.

You may submit comments to Celena Allison (celena@ucsc.edu). The comment period will run through Wednesday, November 3, 2004.

We hope you will find the guidelines helpful by communicating a framework to aid in the development of staffing plans and associated processes.
