Re: John Simpson's message to campus
Dear Campus Colleagues:
I am writing to let you know that I will be leaving UC Santa Cruz after five years as your Executive Vice Chancellor and Campus Provost, because I have accepted the presidency of the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York.

Chancellor Greenwood's message about Provost Simpson's planned departure
UCSC's press release on the announcement
A second message from the chancellor about Dean Chemers assuming the Provost/EVC position on an interim basis
| For me, this is a remarkable opportunity. Yet, it is a bittersweet change, because of my strong and positive feelings for UCSC and all of you. I have enjoyed the pleasure of knowing and working with many of you over the past few years, and I will greatly miss that experience. I believe that I am leaving the campus in very good shape, and many of the changes that are now in process will make it even better. I also have every faith that UCSC will continue on its highly positive trajectory.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving you.
John B. Simpson
