Re: Death of student Carlos Estrada
It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the tragic death of one of our students, Carlos Alberto Estrada of Merrill College. As you may have read in news accounts of the incident, it appears that Carlos was a victim of a single-car accident on Highway 17 on Monday night.
A 19-year-old first-year freshman, Carlos was making plans to study physics (astrophysics).
Discussions are under way with Carlos's family about a possible memorial event at Merrill in the near future. His family has also requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations in support of scholarships be made to Merrill's general endowment fund.
Please join me in expressing condolences to Carlos's family and to his many friends.
