October 21, 2002 To: Campus Community From: Gail Heit, Associate Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs Re: Public forum on new student facilitiesA public forum on the feasibility of developing several new student facilities will be sponsored by the Student Life Facilities Improvements Committee on Wednesday, October 23 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the Bay Tree Conference Center (Room D). The committee has been charged by Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor John Simpson to conduct a feasibility and area planning study focusing on the physical siting, program development, and costs for: a Student Union, a Campus Recreation/Events Center, improvements to the Quarry Amphitheater, an additional playing field, and infrastructure improvements to improve pedestrian access from the west campus and in the Quarry Plaza area. The public forum is a follow-up to focus group meetings held last Spring and will provide a status report on preliminary findings as well as an opportunity for additional input and discussion.
