March 28, 2003 To: Campus Community From: M.R.C. Greenwood, Chancellor Re: Invitation from Chancellor: March 31 eventDear Colleagues: We commence the spring quarter in the midst of international turmoil and uncertainty. At such a time, we expect there will be various opportunities for thoughtful discussion and debate; as plans are finalized, public events will be posted at http://www.ucsc.edu/news_events/iraq/ It also is important to identify a venue in which members of the campus community may come together to reflect on our reactions to the war in Iraq and its impact. To meet this need, the Quarry Amphitheater has been designated as a place for quiet reflection. I plan to inaugurate the space informally on Monday, March 31, from 4:30 - 5:30 P.M. An area will be reserved in the quarry for creation of a community collage -- and you may wish to bring something to contribute, such as a poem, photo, personal note or other symbol of your thoughts and feelings. Please join me and other colleagues to share some contemplative time together.
