Re: Student Regent Recruitment
Dear Colleagues:
One of the most important leadership opportunities offered to students is an appointment to serve on the UC Board of Regents. Within our campus community there are many students with outstanding leadership potential. The Career Center is currently in the process of seeking candidates for the position of Student Regent in 2004-2005. I invite each of you to encourage students to apply.
The Student Regent position is a two-year commitment to serve as a member on the Board of Regents of the University of California. From the time of appointment as a Student Regent in September 2003, the appointee holds the title "Regent-Designate" and is invited to participate as a non-voting member in all meetings. Commencing July 1, 2004, the Student Regent will serve as a full voting member of the Board of Regents.
A candidate for the position of Student Regent must be an enrolled undergraduate, graduate, or professional student in good academic standing for the two year duration. Once appointed, the Student Regent must resign from all other elected or appointed positions. A Student Regent is not eligible for reappointment.
The Student Regent's University fees, tuition, and campus parking fees are waived. Additionally, a Student Regent will be reimbursed for expenses incurred for attendance at meetings of the Board and its Committees.

All completed applications are due no later than February 20, 2003.
Another wonderful opportunity for students to learn more about the student Regent position is to attend the "Meet the Student Regents" event. The event will be held tomorrow, January 31st at 2pm in Bay Tree Conference Room D, to meet current student Regent Dexter Ligot-Gordon and Student Regent-Designate Matthew Murray.
