Re: Mission Street construction delays December 11-13

Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) has been informed by Caltrans that work along Mission Street will result in street closures and significant traffic delays early next week. Pending good weather, construction crews anticipate placing the final layer of asphalt onto Mission Street between Chestnut and Rigg on Tuesday, December 12th, and on adjoining side streets on Wednesday, December 13th.

Campus commuters are encouraged to use Bay Street between Mission and High, as intermittent closure of the King/Mission intersection will severely impact traffic flow along High, Storey, and King Streets.

Completion of this work will provide two lanes of traffic in each direction between Chestnut and Walnut. At present, Caltrans anticipates work on the next construction stage--from Rigg to Bay Streets--to begin in April or May of 2001.

For the latest information on construction delays, call the Mission Street Widening Project Hotline at (831) 420-6242, or direct your web browser to http://www.missionwidening.com/ (no longer active 12/02).
