Overview: Core Identity
The campus’s core identity combines two graphic elements: the UC Santa Cruz logotype and the University of California seal.
Combining the historical UC seal with a logotype set in a modern sans-serif typeface (Ultra Condensed Sans Serif, aka Empire) accurately reflects the dual nature of the university—a reservoir of history and culture, as well as a contemporary, innovative research center. This combination constitutes the core identity for UC Santa Cruz.
