Pulitzer Prize-winner's lecture will focus on Chopin

In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the death of pianist and composer
Frederic Chopin, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Douglas Hofstadter will present a
talk titled, "A Lifelong Passion for Chopin's Fire."
The talk takes place at 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 17, in the Music Center Performance
Studio 131 and is free and open to the public.
Hofstadter is a professor of cognitive science and computer science at Indiana University,
Bloomington. He is the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of the books, Gödel,
Escher, Bach and Le ton beau de Marot, among others, and has written several
articles about Chopin for such highly diverse journals as Scientific American
and Poland magazine. Hofstadter was keynote speaker for the conference "The
Age of Chopin" at the Indiana University School of Music in September.
