Banana Slug Spring Fair is April 12-13

By Doreen Schack

Alumni will have a chance to reconnect with old friends and the campus during Banana Slug Spring Fair, April 12-13, and a number of UCSC faculty are participating in the weekend's many events.

Lisa J. Rose (Crown '72), UCSC's director of materiel management, talks with former Alumni Association Council member Doug Kaplan (Stevenson '74) at last year's All-Alumni Reunion Luncheon. Rose coordinated an exhibit of vintage photographs by alumni. It will be on display at this year's Crown Provost's Reception and at the 30-year reunion of the Class of '73.

The caption for the photo, above, was incorrect in the April 1 newsprint Currents. Lisa J. Rose (from Materiel Management) was identified as Lisa M. Rose (from Long Marine Lab). We apologize for the error.

UCSC's alumni reunion weekend includes reunions, tours, receptions, exhibits, and more. Among the events are:

• The All-Alumni Reunion Luncheon, giving special recognition to the Classes of '73, '78, '83, '88, '93, and '98.

•The 30-year reunion dinner of the Class of '73.

• The 15-year reunion of the Class of '88.

• Receptions at every college and a 30-year anniversary for College Eight.

• Distinguished Faculty Lecture by professor of Anthropology Adrienne Zihlman.

• Affinity and interest group gatherings for Filipino American alumni, Black Escargot (African American alumni), Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender alumni, and the Page and Eloise Smith Scholastic Society.

• Academic reunions for anthropology, the Jack Baskin School of Engineering, history, journalism, and literature.

• A performance by the Flying Karamazov Brothers.
