COMMUNITY ALERT

On 1/29/03 at about 1000 hours, a woman was riding her bicycle on the trails of upper campus near Twin Gates. She stopped to adjust her seat and heard another rider approach. The rider stopped and started a conversation with the victim. He stated his name was "David" from "Topeka" and was a new UCSC student.

"David" was described as a white male adult, in his late 30's, 5'8", 170 lbs with "strawberry blond" hair that curled up at the ends. He wore dark glasses and a dark green "brain bucket" type of helmet. The man was unshaven with "stubble" on his face.

The victim became uncomfortable speaking with the male and attempted to leave on her bicycle. The male grabbed her by the left wrist. The victim freed herself and rode away. She fled in her car. She later phoned the police to report the incident.
