Staying informed about budget process
This web site is designed to provide members of the campus community with the latest information about the state budget challenge and efforts under way to manage the challenge. UCSC's Executive Budget Committee is overseeing a number of major "transformation" projects. By transforming business practices and maximizing efficiency, campus leaders intend to minimize the impact of budget cuts and protect the campus's academic mission.

HIGHLIGHTS
The 2005-06 state budget, signed on July 11 by Gov. Schwarzenegger, offers an increase in state funding for the University of California after four years of substantial cuts. Also see latest newsletter from UC President Dynes.
With call letters to deans and vice chancellors, the Campus Provost has outlined the campus's resource planning assumptions for 2005-06, has provided a planning caledar, and has asked for resource priorities and needs for the next three years. See 2005-06 Budget Process web site.
The Campus Provost and the Office of Planning and Budget have posted two new resource documents regarding the campus budget process. The UCSC Budget Handbook: An Overview of Funds Supporting UCSC clarifies the campus's operating budget processes and resource-allocation principles. The UC Santa Cruz Budget: A Bird's Eye View provides an overview of the campus's budget.
The Executive Budget Committee serves as an advisory body to Chancellor Denton and Campus Provost Kliger on budget issues and priorities; the EBC also provides oversight and coordination of a number of transformation projects.

budget-related job changes.
