Prepared remarks of David Kliger, Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor

"Regents of the University, Chancellors, distinguished guests, colleagues, family and friends:

I am David Kliger, Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor at UC Santa Cruz.

It is my privilege to welcome you all as we celebrate the extraordinary life, achievements and memory of UCSC’s ninth chancellor, Denice D. Denton.

We are joined today by family, friends, supporters, and colleagues of Chancellor Denton, including local and state governmental officials and their representatives, as well as industry people who worked with Chancellor Denton. Also in attendance are UCSC Foundation trustees and donors, alumni, professional colleagues from around the country, and UCSC students, staff and faculty.

We are especially gratified that France A. Córdova, Chancellor of UC Riverside, has agreed to preside. Chancellor Córdova is a close friend and colleague of Chancellor Denton. Please welcome Chancellor France A. Córdova."
