Prepared remarks of Denice Denton's family

(The following remarks were presented on behalf of Denice Denton’s mother, Carolyn Mabee; her sisters, Derri Denton and Michelle Moore; brother Deran Denton; and friend Diana Beasley.)

"Denice did not evolve. She arrived like an explosion, a sonic boom. From the moment she was born, we knew she was a special person, a unique individual, a gift from God.

As a child she was gregarious and precocious–reading the funny papers at age 3. For Denice, it was not about what is, but what could be. She drew outside the lines, ran with scissors, and spoke out of turn.

Denice was not only strong-minded, but also innovative. ‘No’ was never an option, just simply a nuisance. Her resourceful nature is renowned.

Denice was an adventurer—she loved life. Each of us remembers the fun-loving, laughter-provoking Denice. We’ve all heard the escapades of her world travels. Her stories are legend—her love, all-encompassing.

Everything she did, she did out of genuine love and caring. Every effort went to helping others and building up those she touched. She was selfless and the accolades just naturally followed.

The world knows her for her accomplishments. We know her as a loving, humorous, gentle, kind and fun granddaughter, daughter, sister, niece, and friend.

To know Denice was to love Denice.

If Denice’s mission in life had been to paint a wall mural, the result would have been the Sistine Chapel.

Our family would like to offer a sincere ‘thank you’ for all of your kind support and prayers.

God bless you all.”
